Blackpearl Omakase is led by Michelin-starred Omakase Chef Wei Chen, whose culinary journey began as an apprentice at MASA in New York City — the only three-Michelin-star Japanese restaurant in the United States, under the legendary Chef Masa Takayama. After years of rigorous training and refinement, Chef Wei moved to Florida, earning recognition in Tampa before bringing his craft to Ponte Vedra Beach.
His approach is rooted in humility, patience, and a relentless pursuit of perfection. Rather than imposing formality, he creates a space of calm and connection — where guests are invited to relax, engage, and fully experience each moment at the counter. His philosophy honors Edomae tradition while embracing subtle modern innovation, always guided by seasonality and respect for the ingredient.
Inspired by his sensei, Chef Masa Takayama, and presented in a setting reminiscent of classic sushi bars of old, Chef Wei's omakase is designed to feel timeless — both nostalgic and forward-looking.
